Ultimate Ozora Festival Guide: Travel Tips, Camping Essentials & Must-Know Insights
After attending the last Ozora festival, I am convinced that it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that everyone must have at least once in their lives, even if trance is not their preferred music style. For me, it was a journey of presence, healing, and love that led to an open heart. An experience that combined conscious and spiritual development. The musical variety, the special people, the workshops, the colors, and the soundas together create a paradise of presence, enjoyment, and playfulness.
In the upcoming guide, I will share everything you want to know about Ozora. With my hand on my heart, this is the first article I am writing. I have kept it focused and interesting, all from my personal experience. Question 1: How to Get to Ozora Festival?
To get to the Ozora Festival, you'll need to prepare by securing your tickets and booking your flights. Once you're in Budapest, you have five transportation options to reach the festival site. I arrived on the opening gates date, July 26, and experienced around 2-3 hours of traffic while taking the Ozora bus from the train station. Afterward, we walked for about 30 minutes with our belongings until we reached the festival gates, where we waited an additional two hours to receive our tickets. Believe me—this journey is totally worth it for the heavenly experience that awaits!

Tickets
First and foremost, you need to buy your tickets! Tickets can be purchased on the official Ozora website. The earlier you buy, the cheaper the ticket will be. Right now, the ticket price is 190 euros—a very reasonable price for 12 days of festival fun.
You can also purchase part of the ticket now and pay the second half in cash or by credit card at a later time.
To buy a ticket, simply go to the official Ozora website, then confirm all 12 points (a link to the points will be at the end of the article)—these principles uphold the festival's values, and we are required to accept them. After that, register with your details, and you will immediately receive an email with a link to your ticket, where you can choose your payment method. -
Flights
All major airlines land at Hungary's international airport (BUD – Liszt Ferenc International Airport, Budapest), which is located about 30 minutes from downtown Budapest. -
Ways to Get There
Once you arrive in Budapest, there are several ways to get to the festival, and I will outline them all here:
-
Train to Festival:
The Ozora festival operates a shuttle that transfers passengers between Simontornya train station and the festival gates. The shuttle departs after the arrival of every train from Budapest, and the fare is donation-based, so everyone can contribute whatever they wish after boarding the shuttle. -
Airport to Ozora Festival:
The OzoraShuttle team will take you directly from the main parking lot of Budapest Airport to the festival gates. -
Bus:
Public transport tickets in Budapest cost around 1 euro. Buses 100E and 200E run between the airport and the city center. -
Car:
If you prefer to drive, renting a car is a great option. The drive from Budapest to Ozora takes about 2 hours. Just make sure to plan for parking at the festival!
Question 2: What to bring to Ozora Festival?
This can be a tricky question, and I often find myself bringing more than I need. In this answer, I will be concise and efficient, outlining both personal and group camping gear. I will later publish a more detailed article on what to bring to Ozora.
- Waterproof Tent: A rainproof tent is crucial. If you don’t have one, consider buying a tarp for extra protection.
- Mattress: Choose between a single or double mattress. I prefer a double for added comfort, especially since the festival lasts a long time.
- Sleeping Bag: A sleeping bag is essential! I recommend buying a compact and high-quality sleeping bag that suits the weather conditions.
- Folding Chair: A comfortable folding chair that allows you to sit comfortably at the campsite or in the open area.
- Inflatable Pillow: The inflatable pillow is the most comfortable, efficient, and compact solution for good sleep.
- Hammock: Absolutely essential! A hammock is perfect for camping and even for your backpack. There’s nothing like swinging to the sounds of chill-out music in the Dome. Just hang it wherever you like, even at the stage.
- Tent Light: A very important item that will help you keep order in the tent. Hang it at the top of the tent and enjoy the light.
Group Camping Gear:
- Camping Gear Cart: In my opinion, a gear cart is an essential product; I don’t know how I would manage without it.
- Camping Lighting: It’s important to illuminate your space; use different types of lighting for a fun atmosphere.
- Camping Shower: Since the showers are cold, this product is so useful and simple. Fill it up at the nearby tap, and within two hours, you’ll have 20 liters of warm water for a shower—a different experience.
- Sunshade Shelter: to protect you from the sun.
Question 3: How Many Stages Are at Ozora Festival?
In total, there are six stages at Ozora, which is truly amazing! The main stage is where the frequency is incredibly high, but I found myself exploring and discovering unforgettable moments at the other stages as well. It's important to respect all the stages and give each one the time it deserves.
- Dragon Nest: At this stage, you can find live performances and stunning musical blends, with powerful rhythms and electrifying energy.
- Ozora Stage: The main stage of the festival, the beating heart of Ozora, where we encounter the leading DJs in the trance world, featuring performances that stir the soul.
- The Dome: An intimate and mesmerizing stage. True to its name, it feels like home, offering downtempo experiences accompanied by a psychedelic design that enhances the overall vibe.
- Pumpui Ambyss: This stage typically features techno in its many forms, from chill to deep Berlin club sounds. Occasionally, you'll find some of the best trance artists performing here.
- Cooking Groove: The most unique stage at Ozora! Adjacent to the Ozora cooking area, this space is filled with fun energies and cooking aromas—a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- Goa Zero → Ginko Stage: Before the opening ceremony, this stage operates 24 hours straight with pure Goa music. After that, it transforms into a workshop area.
Question 4: What’s the Food Like at Ozora Festival?
When planning for the festival, one of the first things that comes to mind is food. The good news is that the food at Ozora is really nice! You'll find a wide range of options, including falafels, Indian dishes, Hungarian cuisine, açai bowls, chia pudding, Greek salads, and fruit salads. My personal favorite for breakfast was the chia pudding with mango puree, available at the ‘Astral Food’ stall.
There are two main types of food concessions at the festival: festival kantines and private vendors. The festival kantines offer meals at more affordable prices, making them a great option for those on a budget. For instance, a hearty breakfast like an omelet with bread may cost around 6 euros. On the other hand, private vendors usually sell a variety of foods—everything from pizza and burgers to Thai and Indian cuisine—often at slightly higher prices, up to about 15 euros.
One of the coolest areas at the festival is the Cooking Groove. This is a place where everyone gathers to cook, featuring facilities for lighting a fire, washing dishes, and enjoying good company. It’s a perfect spot for those who want to prepare their meals and share the experience with others.
While the festival mostly offers plant-based meals, there are also options for chicken and meat. However, keep in mind that there will likely be queues for food. To avoid long waits, consider packing some snacks or looking for stalls with shorter lines.
Additionally, there’s a mini-market and a fruit shop on-site. If you have cooking facilities in your van, you can purchase ingredients and prepare your meals, or simply carry some snacks for the day. Staying nourished is essential, especially considering the energy you’ll expend during the festival. If you find yourself skipping meals, make sure to take vitamins to maintain your energy levels.
Question 5: What Drinks Can You Find at Ozora?
Water: Mineral water is available at several vendors, plus there are drinking fountains scattered around the festival to keep you hydrated.
Soft Drinks and Alcohol: You’ll find various stalls serving up a range of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages at decent prices. Whether you’re into beers, wines, or something stronger, there’s plenty to choose from.
Fruit Shakes: For those who love a healthy boost, check out the stalls offering fresh fruit shakes—a tasty way to get your vitamins while you enjoy the festivities.
Coffee: Craving a caffeine fix? You can grab coffee from the festival cantina or private vendors, but prices and tastes might vary, so it’s worth exploring.
Tea and Donations at the Cooking Groove: Don’t forget the Cooking Groove, where you can find a tea station with a variety of options available for free. Feel free to drop a donation if you’re enjoying it—it’s a lovely way to connect with fellow festival-goers!
Question 6: Common Mistakes at Ozora Festival
- Ignoring Your Body: It’s crucial to listen to your body during the festival. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, eating healthy food, taking vitamins, and staying hydrated. Keeping your energy levels up is key to enjoying the experience!
- Underestimating the Nights: The nights at the festival are magical. The lights, colors, and sounds feel more intense after dark. Don’t miss out on this enchanting atmosphere!
- Skipping Smaller Stages: Each stage has something unique to offer, so make sure to visit them all at least once. Don’t overlook the smaller areas like the Cooking Groove and Dragon Nest—those spots can lead to unforgettable moments.
- Not Bringing Rain Gear: Statistically, there’s usually at least one rainy day during Ozora. Be prepared and bring appropriate gear to avoid any uncomfortable surprises.
- Trying to Plan Everything: At Ozora, I learned that letting go of the need to control every detail opens up a world of magic. Embrace the spontaneity and flow of the festival—it’s all part of the fun!
- Ice Supply Misconception: I bought two coolers expecting to keep ice on hand, only to be disappointed to discover that ice is not sold at the festival.
- Neglecting Workshop/Wellness Experiences: Don't miss out on the diverse wellness experiences available, such as those at The Wheel of Wisdom, Ginko Stage, Shroom Pods, Lotus Tent, and Willow Dome. These events can enrich your festival journey with transformative practices, healing sessions, and holistic activities that foster personal growth and connection.
Question 7:How to Handle Money at Ozora Festival?
Inside the festival, you can pay with two currencies—Euros and Forints—but paying with Forints is generally cheaper. Most vendors, including those in the festival’s dining area, accept cash or mobile payments, which is convenient, but it’s wise to always have some cash on hand for safety.
Be aware that there are no ATMs at the festival, so it's crucial to prepare in advance with enough cash for your needs. It’s a good idea to convert some currency into Forints before you arrive, as this will help you avoid unfavorable exchange rates and ensure you have enough for food, drinks, and other expenses throughout the event.
Remember, budgeting around 20 Euros per day is often sufficient for most festival-goers, depending on your spending habits and preferences. Enjoy the festival and keep your finances in check!
Question 8: What Not to Miss at Ozora Festival?
- Tractor Ride: Don’t miss the tractor ride that runs every 20-30 minutes from the entrance to the Pompeii area. The walk can be long, so waiting for the tractor saves energy.
- Nighttime Light Show on the Lake: Experience the stunning audiovisual show during the festival, blending lights, smoke, and water for a psychedelic atmosphere.
- Relax by the Lake: Taking breaks is essential. You’ll find many spots to relax, read, or swim to recharge your energy.
- Heaven: Located near the Mirador, this serene area is perfect for unwinding and reflecting amidst the festivities.
- Recovery Station: At the main stage, this space allows you to gather your strength or share your experiences. It offers water with vitamins, snacks, and friendly support.
- Mirador – The Art Area: This tower and art gallery showcase the festival’s rich visual culture through works by both Hungarian and international artists, featuring psychedelic and mystical themes.
Question 9: What Items Did You Forget and Regret Not Bringing?
- Day Backpack: Early on, I quickly realized the importance of having a day backpack. I found myself waking up in the morning, meditating or writing, then organizing my things to travel throughout the day. Without a dedicated bag, I had to improvise using a regular bag, which wasn’t ideal. Next time, I’ll remember to bring a day backpack!
- Leg Pouch: I bought a leg pouch on the second day, and it turned out to be essential. It kept my earplugs, money, phone, and other small items secure and accessible, making it comfortable to dance without worrying about my belongings.
- Camping Gas: I made the mistake of purchasing an unsuitable gas canister, which complicated things for me. While there were canisters available at the mini-market, they weren’t the right fit for my stove, making meal preparation a hassle.
Question 10: What Are the Best Tips for Ozora?
- Safety First: Many people choose to enjoy various substances at festivals, but it's essential to approach them responsibly. Understanding what you’re putting into your body—and knowing the right dosage—is key to a safe experience. Thats why i have here a digital scale that can be a valuable tool for accurate measurement, helping ensure a responsible approach. Remember, being informed and mindful of your surroundings (set and setting) can make all the difference for a positive, safe experience.
- Main Stage Mini Camp: No joke, this is a must! The main stage is where the heart of the festival beats, so you’ve got to be close to the action. Bring a small bag from your camp and pop up a mini tent nearby. This way, you can dance freely, knowing everything you need is right at your fingertips. It’s the most important thing I had at the festival!
- Take Care of Your Body: Prioritize your well-being by eating nutritious food, getting enough sleep, and staying hydrated throughout the day. It's not just a saying; genuinely listen to your body. Remember to take vitamins and drink water consistently to maintain your energy and health.
- Solar Shower Solution: Since the showers at Ozora are often freezing, bringing a solar shower is a game-changer for a comfortable wash during the day.
- Choose Your Sleeping Area Wisely: Consider the proximity to stages (for loud music), showers, food vendors, and whether you prefer a nice view or shade/sun. A bit of thoughtful planning can significantly enhance your experience.
- Go all festival days: The festival lasts for 11 days, including day zero. Arriving a day early or sticking around can enrich your experience and let you soak it all in.
- Don’t Forget Your Earplugs: As a dancer who makes love with the speakers, I can’t stress enough how essential earplugs are. They’ll help protect your hearing while still allowing you to enjoy the beats that keep you moving.
- Use a Leg Pouch: A leg pouch is a game-changer for keeping essentials close. It’s discreet enough to keep your valuables safe—because you never know what you might encounter in the crowd! Just be smart about what you carry; keep it light and manageable.
-
Flow with the Experience: Just go with the vibe. It’s great to have your favorite DJs lined up, but let the energy of this holy place guide you to where you need to be. Spontaneity can lead to unforgettable moments.
